Three Runnin' Dogs participate at ONU.

The Celina H S Indoor Track season got off to an early start Saturday as three seniors; Julie Snyder, Kelby Rosengarten, and Eryn Langenkamp took part in the Lima Area Track and Field Officials’ Association’s High School Invitational, held at the Ohio Northern University.

Julie had an outstanding afternoon as she WON all three of the events she was entered.  Jules posted either a ‘career best’ or ‘indoor best’ in each discipline.  She began the day with a ‘career high’ clearance of 5’ 4” in the high jump.  Although she could have continued, Jules stopped after the 5’ 4” height to prepare for the long jump.  In the long jump Jules leaped to a personal ‘indoor best’ 17’ 3.75” on her third attempt to take the top spot.  Her day ended with a personal ‘indoor fastest’ time of 8.98 seconds in the 55-meter intermediate hurdles.  Jules was the only female hurdler to finish under nine seconds.

Kelby was two for two on the afternoon, with two ‘career best’ efforts in his two events.  Kelby took 6th in long jump with a jump of 19’7.5”, as he inches ever so close to his goal of 20’.  In the 55-meter high hurdles Kelby recovered from a stumble at the start to record a clocking of 8.17 seconds.  His time was nine tenths of a second faster than he had ever gone, and was good for 7th place of over 35 hurdlers.

After missing almost the entire 2007 spring season due to injury, Eryn Langenkamp used the meet to get back in the swing of things.  For the first time in over nine months Eryn was able to high jump, hurdle and pole vault.  She placed 5th in the HJ with a clearance of 4’ 11”.  In the hurdles, Eryn whacked a two of the five barriers, but still managed to finish 7th (of 35) in 9.81 seconds.  In the vault, Eryn cleared 7’ 6”, and then passed to 8’ 6” before being eliminated.  The meet served as a good confidence builder for Eryn as she continues her comeback for the 2008 campaign.

Later in the month the Celina begin its indoor season in earnest, as it will head to the University of Findlay with a larger contingent of ‘Indoor Runnin’ Dogs’.
