Runnin' Dogs WIN Mercer County Championships!
For the second consecutive day the Celina Tracksters braved the rain and wind, to perform well at the Mercer County Meet. The Bulldog ‘Team’ effort was rewarded as both the Men and Women claimed convincing WINS. The Men totaled 188.5 points, 54 ahead of runner-up St Henry (134.5). Marion Local (88.5), Parkway (62), Coldwater (30), and Fort Recovery (17.5) rounded out the field. The Women were just as successful, earning 185 points, 81 in front of Coldwater (104). Marion Local (99), Parkway (62), St Henry (39), and Fort Recovery (34) completed the scoring. The Men used depth and individual performances to claim the Championship. In 9 of 17 events CHS had winning efforts. Andrew Goodwin picked up two wins as he glided to the 1600 and 3200-meter titles. Kelby Rosengarten established a new Mercer County record in taking the 300 hurdles. He placed 2nd in both the 200 dash and 110 HH. Brad Smith (400), Spencer Foulkes (800), Jacob Archer (shot put), and Aaron Snyder (discus) all earned individual championship. The 4 x 400 and 4 x 800 relays also took first. In five events the Bulldogs placed three athletes in the top six; pole vault (T3, T3, T5), shot put (1, 3, 4), discus (1, 2, 5), 1600 run (1, 5, 6), 3200 run (1, 3, 4). Four times the Dogs placed two athletes; HH (2, 3), 300 hurdles (1, 3), 400 dash (1, 4), and 800 run (1, 4). The Runnin’ Women claimed eight event wins in earning the ‘team’ title. CHS’s 4 x 800 relay got things going on Thursday as it was a winner. Individually, the four reliable seniors led the Women as they contributed the seven individual event championships. The Julie Snyder set a Mercer County record in the 100-meter hurdles as she ran and jumped to wins in both hurdle races as well as the long jump. She also placed second in the high jump. Melissa Roth won the 1600 and 3200 runs, both in career best times. Eryn Langenkamp sprinted to wins in the 100 and 200 dashes as well as getting a third in the 100 hurdles. Katie Hague placed second in the 300 hurdles and fourth in the 100 hurdles. Celina dominated the hurdle races with a 1-2-3 in the 300’s and a 1-3-4 in the 100’s. Three Ladies scored in the 800 as well. In four events (200, 400, shot put, and 1600) the Dogs placed two athletes. The Mercer County Meet served as good preparation for the upcoming Western Buckeye League Championship Meet, which is coming May 14, 16 at Ottawa-Glandorf H S.
